NYE: The Great American Songbook

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

Following his sold out at the Triad Theater and 54 Below in NYC, entertainer Robert Bannon brings his new concert event, “The Great American Songbook:His Way” to Villagers Theatre for a two special New Years Eve performances. He will be accompanied by Musical Director John Urban on piano and special guest.

This musical journey chronicles his start as a musical theater student at Julliard Prep at Lincoln Center, to performing with Patti LaBelle as a child, to illness, teaching, finding his way back to the stage, and all the twists and turns along the way. The show has a wide variety of music that comes straight from the Great American Songbook from Broadway to standards, pop to hip hop. It is a no holds barred styling through a lifetime of events and choices that lead to him to where he is today. This event promises to be a memorable night of new and old friends, laughs, music, and memories. This time with a full band, the holiday season, great duet partners, and a story dying to be told, this is a show not to be missed! Usher in 2020 with the soundtrack to our lives while benefiting our local artistic center- Villagers Theatre.

Hey Bulldog is a diverse group of musicians from the New Brunswick area who got together as part of an open “jam” to play Beatles songs. They have been playing together for the past 14 years and are locals to the Middlesex and Somerset area.

ComedyVill III – Fall 2017

We provide the stand-up!  You just sit down and have some laughs! Join Villagers Theatre as we host three of the funniest people in New Jersey for this Special Comedy Event! We promise you’ll laugh your (insert body part) off!

Joan Weisblatt (host) – Joan was a lawyer for 30 years before delving into the world of stand up comedy. She is the regular host, and producer of comedy shows for the Gotham Comedy Foundation, the charitable arm of the Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. Joan performs all over New York City, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She performed most recently in the Ladies of Laughter comedy festival. Joe Fernandes (Headliner) – When Joe is not escaping reality by hanging with his Welsh Corgi on hiking trails, he can be found in comedy clubs making fun of his unrelenting confusion with life. From stories of his drugged up youth to his adult struggles with food, to being a hypochondriac married to a nurse with kids, Joe’s open book approach to comedy has an honest point of view that any audience can relate to. Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir

The 2017 Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir will perform their fully-staged concert event “Paper Mill Sings” at the Villagers Theatre, 475 Demott Lane in Somerset, NJ. This song and dance extravaganza will feature production numbers from popular Broadway shows including Newsies, West Side Story, Mary Poppins, The Wiz, A Bronx Tale, Disney’s High School Musical, Annie, Sister Act, and more. The program will also feature pop favorites from Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, ABBA and Pentatonix. This is the second year of Paper Mill Playhouse’s featuring its newest ensemble Voices of Paper Mill, which will be performing ‘extreme acapella’ in the style of the recent “Pitch Perfect” films. The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir is sponsored by Overlook Medical Center.

The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir, presented by Overlook Medical Center, has toured the area at impressive venues including Lincoln Center, The Empire State Building, Sun Arena, MetLife Stadium, Paper Mill Playhouse, Bergen PAC, SOPAC and many more. The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir is an audition based, exhibition Show Choir that stems from Paper Mill Playhouse’ s award-winning Arts Education and Outreach programs. The choir consists of 70 singer/dancers between the ages of 15 and 22. The Paper Mill Playhouse Broadway Show Choir act as ambassadors to Paper Mill Playhouse with an array of performance opportunities throughout the community and beyond. Students selected to be a part of this talented group have to opportunity to fine tune their craft with free, intensive instruction with an array of public performance opportunities.
